Carrizo Plain is just an hour from San Luis Obispo and is home to a miraculous ecology that includes freezing winters, SUPERBLOOM springs, and a dramatic fault line. This project consists of a "dial" which indexes the movement of the continental plates, and a "screen" from which observers witness the topographic effects of fault slippage. By channeling wind and rain, the dial forms alluvial fans along the landscape, which over thousands of years would create a pattern of fans along the fault line.
